As a 15 year old boy, I witnessed the shooting on the Dam, May 7th 1945, in the newspaper of tuesday May 7th 2013, attention was paid to the incident.
I stood, with hundreds of other people, in the centre of the Paleisstraat and saw that a few unarmed German soldiers were brought to the Palace by people from the Domestic Armed Forces (in their blue overall) through the entrance at the Paleisstraat.
This happend not very gently. Amongst roaring and cheering from the bystanders the soldiers were beaten and kicked by the Domestic Armed Forces into the Palace.
Out of the Groote Club the soldiers could have been observing it and that might be the reason for the following shooting.
The incident on the corner of the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, mentioned in the article, I did not notice anything.
After the shooting I run away with the crowd from the Paleisstraat via the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal to the Raadhuisstraat, I took cover behind a pillar from the old post office on the corner of the Spuistraat.
Then a truck from the Grune Polizei came along, it went in the direction to the Rozengracht towards the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. The passengers were shooting with there guns in the air. This incident has made a deep impression on me and I must think often on it.
