I saw the bloody hands of the victims

Ron Duisdikker zag de bebloede handen van slachtoffers onder de dekens vandaan komen
I remember as a little boy, that we were there on the hand of my aunt, on the day in question.
We lived on the Kloveniersburgwal 45 and walked via the Nieuwe Hoogstraat and the Damstraat to the Dam.
We stood still at the height of the present monument, in those days it was a public garden.
Not long after the Germans started to shoot and we made a U-turn.
When we were at home, we saw outside the flat carts from Van Gend en Loos, driving along the door. In this, the victims were transported. With these, I saw the bloody hands of the deceased, holding out under the blankets.
They drove via the Kloveniersburgwal and Zandstraat to the Zuiderkerk were they were placed on a bier.
These moments, I will never forget.
