Paulus Koning

My husband Paulus Koning was also present at the Dam. First he sat on top of the kiosk, but when the shooting started he fell on the ground of fright. (That kiosk was quite high. Afterwards it was broken down)
In the panic he came in contact with a young girl from Oud-West who grabbed him very close, out of fear and asked him if he wanted to bring her back home.
He showed her the way but because he had to walk home to the North of Amsterdam, he couldn’t bring her all the way.
At May 10 the real liberation took place, from the Berlagebrug the Canadians drove into the city.
My husband heard of this on his work from his colleagues and drove very quickly on one the tanks / jeeps.
